This video segment is the culminating activity to a lesson plan using the book Cloudy With A Chance for Meatballs. Students interview a character from the book. The three interviews were written and acted out by students in the Cooley Fifth grade GT class. The interviews take different perspectives (normal, fantasy and crazy) of what happened in the story.
Library Drama
Every week, Omar discusses issues relevant to English teachers working abroad, particularly those in Japan. Each episode begins with a recap of a detailed lesson plan, intended for use with a 90 minute class, and modifiable to meet the needs of differing ability levels. Omar also discusses noteworthy news items, relevant for expats teaching English in Japan, as well as answers questions posed by listeners. Finally, every show ends with a top 5 list - an entertaining examination of 5 things relevant to English teachers working in Japan, based on each episode's theme. The podcast host, Omar Karlin, has taught in Japan since 1999, in schools ranging from a junior high school on the JET program, to a conversation school in Osaka, to a university in Tokyo. The aim of this podcast is to bring teachers together, to generate relevant and practical discussion on lesson plans and other issues faced while teaching English abroad, particularly in Japan. This podcast also has a Facebook page and a materials library that listeners are encouraged to use and contribute to.
