BOOKING + PRESS INQUIRIES | DJ A-SKI:

This LA native / Dj / Producer / Musicologist has been one of the most trusted taste makers and main architects of the Los Angeles Sound for nearly three decades while constantly raising the bar in performance and showmanship.
His style often described as "refreshing and energetic" has earned the self made, charismatic, music aficionado a loyal following and a reputation as ( once quoted by SOULBOUNCE.COM) "the most imitated, never duplicated".
He is affectionetly known in the elite of music circles as the "walking encyclopedia" , his love and passion for music as a DJ was first established in the mid 70's. At the age of 5, he would play at various socials and family gatherings. He would comb through the very large record collections of his parents and siblings with titles bearing the names of artists such as Wilson Pickett, Stevie Wonder, Sylvester, Kool and The Gang, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, James Brown, Sly and The Family Stone,The Meters, B52's, Kraftwerk, etc
A-Ski has collaborated with the likes of Sly Stone , Babystone, James Gadson, Wah Wah Watson, Edwin Birdsong, Jim Gilstrap, Nikka Costa, Marc Ford (The Black Crowes), Seal, Pete Rock, Dj Spinna, Vikter Duplaix, J Rawls, Dj Dusk, Dj Rhettmatic, Ralph M, Dj Joe Cooley, Kon and Amir, Dj Center, Mark Luv, Mona Lisa, Qool Marv, PPP, Scott K, Rich Medina, Maya Azucena, Little Brother, Me'Shell Ndegeocello, Joe Sumner (Son of STING),
Andy Vargas (SANTANA), PPP, The Breakestra, The Rebirth, etc .
His sound has also contributed to the branding of companies such as Nike, Puma, Adidas, Estee Lauder, Red Carpet Boutique, Sport Illustrated, Ralph Lauren, Scion/Toyota, HBO, True Religion Jeans, just to name a few. He's also played various venues/residencies such as The W Hotel (where he was weekend resident), The Room (where he held court for 5 years with the legendary Thursday nite party "Love Is The Message"), The Standard, The Roosevelt Hotel, Little Temple, Temple Bar, King King, Zanzibar, House of Blues (Foundation Room/Main Floor), Tillmans, SOB, Sin Sin, Tripple Crown, etc.
In the mid 90's A-Ski worked for various record labels such as Geffen, Virgin/EMI and Interscope. During that period, his seasoned ear helped break the legendary sounds of D'angelo, Dr Dre, Nikka Costa, Mary J Blige, The Roots ,Daft Punk, Les Nubians, Scritti Politti, Beenie Man, Erick Sermon, Zap Mama, NERD, Gang Starr, Jurassic 5, Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Kelis, etc. Around that period he also got his taste of the radio industry as an intern at KCRW (working under the direction of Gary Calimar, Tom Schnabel and Jason Georges) while trying to follow in the footsteps of his hero The Legendary Frankie Crocker. His first taste on the radio was made a reality due to one of his mixtapes circulating throughout his senior year in high school during the early 90's. This very tape caught the ear of Mixmaster Dj Tee who at the time was a "Mixmaster" on the Legendary LA radio station 1580 KDAY AM and that same tape was eventually aired saturday night on the
"Mixmaster Show". In that same year, while "digging in the crates" and mastering the "pause button" technique; he eventually met his hero who not only shared some secret production tips but also encouraged A-Ski to persue his goal as a Dj/Producer. That man was the "Juice Crew" leader himself, Marley Marl.
In the area of radio production, A-Ski produced two radio shows on the NYC based Wheat Bread Radio (the nightime Soul themed "SUTRA" and his Thursday morning mix show "Unique 74 Sessions") and previously served as Creative Director/Producer/Host of "Walk Talkin' Radi

You might be thinking that BGR Radio went the way of the Dodo bird, but you’d be wrong. We’ve spiced it up with some of that cayenne pepper, thrown in some celebrity interviews, and even brought along good buddy DJ Clue (that’s world-famous DJ Clue to you, sir) to help host and produce it. We’re effectively labeling the previous episodes as “tests”, so this will be Episode #1 going forward. What do we have in our first episode? We’ve got awesome interviews with Mary J. Blige, Kim Kardashian, and the one and only Carmelo Anthony. Yep, they’re big BGR fans, and we got the goods out of them in our interview. Check out the episode below, and give us your thoughts. We’ve got some major surprises in the coming episodes, so make sure you check back in weekly, ok? Also we got to give a shout out to TeleNav for sponsoring the first episode (like you really couldn’t tell with the banners everywhere…).
