For a nation that gained independence from the British only 50 years ago, Jamaicans have left their mark on music, sport, style and language around the globe and have become an international marker of ‘cool’.
Jamaican music has colonised the new and old world alike, its athletes break world records with impunity and youngsters the world over are incorporating Jamaican slang into their dialects. Despite this the country
has reaped no economic reward in return, unlike empires of old, and Jamaica still remains an economic pygmy. Jamaican influence has unconsciously spawned creative innovation around the globe and to this day it remains a country to be studied, celebrated, and demystified. Through the help of linguists, artists, musicians, designers, sports personalities, and historians we take a closer look as to how Jamaican culture conquered the world. In recent years, the Book of Genesis has produced more name-calling than any other part of the Bible. With widely varied interpretations, the first two chapters polarize churches, communities, and schools. Organizations, museums, and theme parks have been built around the debate, often making the political sphere look civil and tame by comparison. But Genesis is more than its first two chapters, and even those first chapters offer more than just a look at the early days of the earth.
This study aims to discuss this 3400-year-old document and its implications for history, the present, and the future. we will discuss the historicity, reliability, and varied interpretations of a book more controversial than its other bookend, Revelation.
The discussion will take place on multiple levels and locations. We will meet live to discuss it in person on Sunday evenings at 7 PM at Shepherd of the Ridge Lutheran Church. The conversation will be streamed live, so anyone unable to be present can watch and join in the discussion via chat, Twitter, or Facebook.
Those unable to watch live can either watch the recorded class or listen online via podcast or just read the questions online and discuss the questions in the comments section.
We will also have forums to discuss tangential topics like the age of the earth, archaeology, and more.

Well...we'd been waiting on this for quite some time...but our newly appointed podcast producer Samuel came through with a winner. Today's podcast features "Mega-Panty Dropper" musician...Josh Radin since he was in town to promote his appearance at "The Social." We kinda had to wait until the 11th hour to see if this was going down...but true to his word...Samuel made it happen and we can't thank him enough!!! I know that this isn't everyone's cup of tea...I mean face it...Tom and I are punk rock kids from way back...but we know a good singer when we hear one and Josh and his gang...have got the goods! Mellow...introspective...sensitive...and wonderfully calm...are all words that I would use to describe this strangely unique brand of music..."minimalitically melodic" for lack of a better term. Josh was as nice as ever and his partner in crime...JJessica Staveley-Taylor is equally as nice...and much better looking...just ask Josh? Check out her song...the third of the segment entitled "Mexico." All love to both of them for sharing their talents with our stupid podcast.

It's not everyone's favorite type of music...but coming from a person that like just about all music...it's truly amazing to me that people are set on this earth to make noises such as this...seriously. Whether's punk rock, metal, R&B or Josh Radin and Jessica Staveley-Taylor...music is what makes this sphere turn...
