The Cuthberts decide Anne will have to be sent back to the orphange but before they know it, she has begun to work her way into their hearts. (Summary by Annie Coleman)

In this podiobook: From the Reader, Jason Pomerantz:The Wonderful Wizard of Oz has been called "the first true American fairy tale" and it richly deserves the title. The story of Dorothy's epic journey through a strange land, filled with terrifying enemies and loyal allies, resonates today as much as it did when it was first written, at the turn of the last century. You've probably seen the movie countless times, so you might not expect any surprises from the book. But when you listen, you'll be charmed by how imaginative it is, and in a way that's different from the film.I dearly love the movie, but, in this reading, I've tried to approach the story as if I'd never seen it. My Dorothy is a little younger than her cinematic counterpart and her trio of beloved friends - The Scarecrow, The Tin Woodsman and The Cowardly Lion - are all just a little sillier. It's hard to escape from the shadow of the MGM spectacular, but I've done my best.I hope you have as much fun listening as I'm having recording! So sit back, put on your slippers (ruby, silver or whatever color you like) and watch out for flying monkeys! Load up your MP3 player and remember - There's no place like home!

In this podiobook: Would you like some music to go with your story? Alex Austin hopes you will. He's integrated the work of 20 contemporary bands and 40 songs into The Red Album of Asbury Park Remixed. It's the late Sixties, the Beatles intact, Jimi Hendrix exploding and the Doors demanding the world. And on the East Coast, famed resort Asbury Park, New Jersey, will become the epicenter of a new brand of rock and roll. But in January 1968, a boardwalk Liverpool lies in the future. Escalating crime and a fading reputation have shaken the City by the Sea. Asbury is at tipping point, Cast down into the fading resort on a bleak winter night, 22-year-old musician Sam Nesbitt wants to be big-Jimi Hendrix/Eric Clapton big-but he has to survive Asbury first. Witnessing the tail-end of a murder on his first night in town, Sam keeps his distance from the crime's investigation. But the murder will crash back into Sam's life. As Sam pursues his dream of glory, he rides a roller coaster of triumphs and defeats. He's the outsider who can't break in, he's the guitarist that every band wants. He's a working class hero, he's a pawn in their game. He's a dream lover, he's breaking hearts. The Asbury music scene is the Wild Wild West: Shootouts on Main Street and rock and roll showdowns on Ocean Boulevard. In this increasingly surreal town, the Atlantic seems to be casting off a new band each day. They wash up on the boardwalk feet flocked with sand, water dripping from their guitars, looking for the stage, looking to face down the local talent. So Welcome to The Red Album of Asbury Park Remixed, where Madam Marie's not talking, Mr. Peanut's not pushing Planters, and if you're out after midnight you better be carrying a six-string. As in the novels of Richard Ford, Tobias Wolff and Jayne Anne Phillips, The Red Album of Asbury Park Remixed uses a matter-of-fact tone, blunt, realistic dialogue, and graphic descriptions of violence to reflect Sam's world. Woven into the story are songs of contemporary Asbury Park musicians. Songs of passion, struggle, chaos, longing, love and dreams.

In this podiobook: It is the next book of an author of apocalyptic books. It may be said that this book is an adapted version of "Book of Rescue from the Doomsday 2012-2013" for the World of Unicellular. Moreover, it is a span-new book. Are you still waiting for Armageddon? Doomsday has already come... You needn't waiting for it neither in 2012, nor in some other year. People should be deleted.Critique: It is about the connection of Anunaki and the Earth for the first time. By the way, by this fact "The World of Unicellular" reminds very much of scandalous books of Zecharia Sitchin, such as "The 12th Planet" (1978), "When Time Began" (1993), "Jorneys to the Mythical Past" (2008) in which the origin of our planet and mankind as result of attack Anunaki from a planet of Nibiru reveals. Sales of these books were enormous and they have caused huge interest in the people. Zecharia Sitchin, the expert on history and culture of the Near East, ancient languages and Sumer writing, on the basis of system researches of Sumer, Assyrian, Babylon and Hebrew texts has come to the conclusions shaking bases both a modern science, and religions concerning a mankind origin. Oleg Seriy not only became on protection of the theory of Sitchin, but also has developed it in a new radical way, having added his own vision of the world creation. A task of Seriy, as he puts it to himself is "that we have think of and change our life", hence, the author is not able to manage it without the sermon turned to grass-roots.There are so many talks about a doomsday and attack of aliens, but everybody thinks that aliens will capture people from space. There is no one thinking that it can be in another way. The author was the first expressing the ideas about those aliens are got into people!!! Also he was the first who has developed this idea.Oleg Seriy hasn't laid aside the problems of economic and political character also. George Orwell in his "1984", John Perkins in "Confessions of an Economic Hit-Man" tried to reach the judiciousness of people. But it was only the iceberg top. Oleg Seriy's work is more deeply developed, rather than Perkins managed to do it. Oleg Seriy' deeper and radical thoughts admire with the completeness and innovation. This book is really stunning from the point of view of sense and the maintenance. The idea, that people are morons, is very courageous statement. Even Zion wise men that have described "Akumas" (people-slaves) in their reports, have not dare to do it. The idea about the deepest global problem of a society (mankind moronity) is a basis for thinking about meaning of the life. And it is necessary so few to reach the idyll, so desired by a society. The only thing needs is to resolve this problem (to get rid of mankind moronity). But are people capable to understand it? This question is bringing up through the whole book of the author.ConclusionThe author has mentioned ideas, which only great writers, as H.G. Wells in his "War of the Worlds", or Ursula K. Le Guin in her "Rocannon's World" have dared to mention. The Same ideas have been filmed in such films as "2012" directed by Roland Emmerich and "Mars attacks!" directed by Tim Burton, who has collected 2 awards and 13 nominations. It is just surprisingly how well Oleg Seriy has managed to display all problems exciting mankind in his book. Authors and directors even earlier have tried to state urgent problems in their works, but Oleg Seriy managed to collect all facts in one book and to state them from a position of the modern world, to introduce the opinion of theory of a mankind origin from deeper point of view.So favourite and popular among readers book of known writers even were filmed by successful directors: "1984" directed by Michael Radford (on George Orwell's novel of the same name), "War of the worlds" directed by Stephen Spielberg (on Herbert Wells' novel of the same name), "War of the worlds of Herbert Wells" by Timothy Hines (as a the filmed version of the novel of

In this podiobook: He's quickly becoming the Lewis Black of Parkinson's Disease. In a series of hilarious essays, Bill Schmalfeldt (author of "No Doorway Wide Enough", also on Podiobooks) lashes out at Parkinson's Disease "and the other things that annoy me." Recorded at his kitchen table, you can hear life going on in the background as Bill talks about stupid studies that prove things that anyone with common sense should know ("Parkies who drool are embarrassed by it! It's SCIENCE!"), his own declining cognitive status ("Pills don't work... unless you TAKE them!"), the non-motor symptoms of Parkinson's ("I think the thing to do is take some daily Metamucil to make a poop that doesn't have to fight its way out every morning like the Incredible Hulk busting out of a police station."), why he had to quit drinking ("One of the pills I take said alcohol could cause the adverse side effect of death."), and a lot about the weird dreams that are caused by the disease and the medication he takes for the disease. Oh, and he's not much of a "Tea Party" fan, either.Bill cautions in the foreword of the book, if you find yourself LEARNING something or feeling sorry for him, put the book down immediately! That's not what he wrote it for. He wrote it to fight back against the disease and to give you something to laugh about. "PD can't affect the human spirit -- unless you let it! And who doesn't enjoy a funny book about disease?""You Never Miss the Dopamine (until the brain runs dry)" is available in paperback, eBook and Kindle through his blog -- http://parkinsondiary.com -- and like his PREVIOUS books about Parkinson's, 100% of the author proceeds will be given to the National Parkinson Foundation and the Charles DBS Research Fund at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

In this podiobook: JJ Semple doesn't just wake up one day and say to himself, "I'm going to crack the coded mysteries in The Secret of the Golden Flower." He starts life in the protected upper echelons of the Eastern Brahmin establishment. When a childhood accident robs him of his most precious talents - music and mathematics - both of which he is particularly gifted in, he succumbs to a long period of misadventure.Paris 1970, a stranger gives him a copy of The Secret of the Golden Flower. After reading the book, he realizes that through serendipitous happenstance he has stumbled across the only way of correcting the effects of his childhood accident. This book is an extraordinary statement about the inevitability of karma and the obstacles to self-realization.While Deciphering the Golden Flower One Secret at a Time is an interpretive companion piece to The Secret of the Golden Flower, it's also a masterfully composed personal narrative. The author, JJ Semple shares his many years of first-hand practice with the sacred book's meditation system. One-by-one, he reveals the techniques behind the book's secrets, providing clear instructions on how to use them. Not even Richard Wilhelm, the translator, or Carl Gustav Jung, the famous psychologist, who wrote the original commentary to The Secret of the Golden Flower, were able to plumb the depths of this method."Semple's narrative command might invoke the envy of a best-selling novelist. And his facility with the language, his ability to effortlessly (or so it seems, without effort) to find just the right word or expression to make his story vivid and engaging for the reader is highly admirable. Furthermore the prose is polished and very nicely edited. The book is pleasure to read and it reads fast."~ Dennis Littrell/Amazon Top 50 Reviewer
