The Intellectual Property Colloquium is an online audio program devoted to intellectual property topics. We aspire to be something like an NPR talk show, but focused on copyrights and patents, and aimed primarily at a legal audience. Each show lasts one hour and features guests drawn from academia, the judiciary, and/or from technology and media companies. Lawyers who listen to the show can earn free CLE credit in California, New York, Texas, Illinois, Washington, and soon over a dozen other states. The Colloquium is produced through a partnership between the UCLA School of Law, the law firm of Loeb & Loeb, the economic consultancy LECG, and the National Jury Project, a professional jury research and trial consulting firm with offices in California, Minnesota, and New Jersey. The public domain text strings together the narrative of Buddha's life as gathered from several classic Buddhist texts, including the Buddhacharita of Asvaghosa, the Lalitavistara, and the Jataka, tales of the Buddha's former births. Here is the story of Prince Siddhartha. Although born into luxury, he seeks and finds enlightenment. He goes on to a life of teaching and developing a growing community. The biography ends with the Buddha's Parinirvana. The text of this English translation is made available through the generosity of The Internet Sacred Text Archive at sacred-texts.com. This on-going podcast of the 58 chapters of The Life of Buddha will be available until all chapters are recorded. Afterwards, the completed audiobook will be available in a commercial edition. Here is unique series of new recordings of Djuna Barnes' short stories and poems. This American writer played an important part in the development of 20th Century English language modernist writing, She was a key figures in 1920-30s bohemian Paris after filling a similar role in the Greenwich Village of the teens. Her novel Nightwood, with its introduction by T. S. Eliot, is a cult work of modern fiction. She stands out today for her distinctive writing style and her portrayals of lesbian themes. Since Barnes's death, interest in her work has grown and many of her books are back in print.

'Dichter und Denker in Freiburg' ist eine fächerübergreifende Ringvorlesung zum 550. Jubiläum der Universität. Veranstalter sind das Deutsche und das Historische Seminar in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Studium Generale.
Die Ringvorlesung soll einen Überblick bieten über die Gelehrten- und Literaturgeschichte Freiburgs vom Mittelalter bis in die Gegenwart. Bedeutende Gelehrte und Dichter, die in Freiburg wirkten, werden in Einzelporträts vorgestellt, die jeweils stadt-, universitäts- und kulturgeschichtlich perspektiviert werden.
Eine Ausstellung (26.10.2006. bis 8.2.2007) in der Universitätsbibliothek begleitet die Ringvorlesung, an der sich Kolleginnen und Kollegen der Philologischen, Philosophischen und Theologischen Fakultät beteiligen.
Hörer aller Fakultäten und interessierte Bürger Freiburgs sind willkommen. Die Ringvorlesung findet statt vom 2.11.2006 bis 15.2.2007 jeweils Donnerstags von 18-19 Uhr im Kollegiengebäude I, Hörsaal 1199.

John Burroughs (1837-1921) was an immensely popular writer during his lifetime. He traveled with John Muir and Teddy Roosevelt; he spent various afternoons with Thomas Edison and Walt Whitman. He was Whitman's first biographer. One might say he had, for many years, his pen on the pulse of the times. Now the times are different and Burroughs is forgotten. Still, with relaxed patience, one can experience his works as they breathe the fresh simplicities of life, especially his intimate milieu: the great outdoors, the flora and fauna, rocks, water, the air and sky —and man's place in the midst of it all.
His poetry can be grouped with his minor writings; he had clear insight into his own facility in poems, to wit, the title page of BIRD AND BOUGH, his sole volume of verse, sports a self-deprecating epigraph from a line by John Bunyan: "Some said, John, print it; others said, Not so." All of his published poetry can be found in this collection, with the exception of "My Own Should Come To Me" and "Waiting." The later, frequently anthologized, was his most well known, and liked, even today. — A PDF of the poem texts can be found as one of the episodes.
