Todd Crandell battled severe alcohol and drug addictions for 13 years. After numerous arrests, becoming destitute and finding himself homeless, Todd kicked his addictions and became sober for good. He soon discovered a new passion, helping addicts and their families around the world and competing in extreme endurance events like the Ironman Triathlon to spread a message of hope.

By July 2009, Todd had competed in over 50 extreme endurance events. Next up; Ultraman Canada, - a grueling three-day, 318.6 mile triathlon in the rustic back-country of Penticton, British Columbia with a camera crew in his face the whole way. Running with Demons is a unique and stark glimpse into the life of an ex-addict who's battling with another addiction - saving people's lives - and the cost could be his his family.

Guo Deping grew up during the period of the Cultural Revolution in China. He describes the starvation his family faced, also the deep love he has for his childhood home - which was in a cave. At that time, and for centuries people in Henan province have lived in caves, which left all the land available for growing food. These cave houses were perfectly insulated, warm in winter and cool in summer, and some of them were even luxurious, with grand facades built on the front. A few people still live in caves, though nowadays even the most elegant of cave dwellings are being superseded by grey concrete blocks of flats. Food has always been the main focus in China - though now, as Guo says, things are getting better. But his heart aches for his parents who suffered so much during the Cultural Revolution, working day and night in the fields, forbidden to cook at home when the communal restaurants didn't provide enough food to survive on, so his father had to steal sweet potatoes from the fields and cook them in the forest at dead of night to feed his starving children. Their generation was 'so unlucky' - when they were young there was no food, and now there is enough food they have no teeth to eat with!

The short film tells the story of 31-year-old Telly Sanders who is madly in love with Valerie, a very attractive woman. They seem to be the perfect couple. That changes when Sam, Telly's childhood friend enters their lives and throws their love off track. As a young boy Telly had to witness his mother cheating on his father and he wasn't able to do anything about it. The unavoidable divorce affected him deeply. His mother left the family and never returned. Once again the past has caught up to Telly and he has to relive it. He catches Valerie and Sam at the cafe, getting home after work and later in bed. Instead of approaching them about it, he decides to wait. But for too long... After a while it becomes too much for him to deal with and jealousy drives him insane. In his blind rage he kidnaps Sam to get the truth out of him. Telly wants to know Sam's reasons for doing something like that. Initially he stays silent, ignoring Telly's threats. With the growing pressure he admits to not only knowing Valerie but having had a relationship with her. Anger overtakes Telly and he throws himself onto Sam. It ends in a tragic accident with Sam motionless on the floor, blood flowing from his head. Telly finds Sam's journal that takes him back to the moments where his blind jealousy first appeared. He has to learn that this jealousy has clouded his perception and he only saw what he wanted to see. But what really happened?

Wieviel Unmögliches verzeiht der Zuschauer dem Filmemacher? Jedes Mal, wenn etwas Unglaubliches über die Leinwand flimmert und der Zuschauer es annehmen kann, dann hat “Suspension of Disbelief” statt gefunden. Der Kurzfilm erzählt die Geschichte von Telly Sanders, einem 31-jährigen Amerikaner. Er ist schwer verliebt in Valerie, ein wunderschönes Mädchen. Die beiden scheinen das perfekte Paar zu sein. Als jedoch Telly’s langjähriger Jugendfreund Sam in deren Leben tritt, scheint die innige Liebe aus der Bahn geworfen zu werden. Telly musste als kleiner Junge zuschauen, wie seine Mutter fremdging und war machtlos. Die darauf folgende Scheidung seiner Eltern hat ihn zutiefst geprägt; seine Mutter verliess die Familie und kam nie wieder zurück. Es sieht so aus, als ob ihn die Vergangenheitserlebnisse einholen und er diese neu durchleben muss. Telly erwischt Valerie und Sam im Café, beim Nachhausekommen und später sogar im Bett. Anstatt die beiden sofort zu stellen, entscheidet er sich zu warten. Jedoch zu lange. Irgendwann wird es ihm zuviel und er dreht durch. Blind und verrückt vor Eifersucht entführt er Sam, um diesen zu stellen. Telly will wissen, warum Sam ihm so etwas antun will. Dieser schweigt jedoch und geht anfangs auf Telly’s Drohungen nicht ein. Mit dem wachsenden Druck gesteht er, Val gekannt zu haben und dass er und Val für eine Zeit lang sogar ein Paar gewesen sind. Der Zorn übermannt Telly und er wirft sich auf Sam. Es kommt zu einem tragischen Unfall; Sam liegt blutend und regungslos am Boden. Telly findet Sam’s Tagebuch, welches ihn zu dem Moment zurückkehren lässt, wo die blinde Eifersucht entstanden ist. Telly muss feststellen, dass die Eifersucht seine Wahrnehmung eingehüllt hat und er nur noch das gesehen hat, was er sehen wollte. Aber was ist wirklich geschehen?
